New construction of a weekend home

This weekend home was built on a beautiful but challenging site in Springs, East Hampton and to get this project realized DCA had to work within the guidelines of the New York Department of Environmental Conservation, the East Hampton Zoning Board and the East Hampton Building Department.

The new design has expansive views of Acabonack harbour yet provides privacy from a busy road nearby. The owners needed spaces that allowed them to live comfortably with their expanding art collection while enabling them to entertain guests graciously. The house is heated and cooled with a geothermal system to minimize energy consumption. The massing of the new house responds to the constraints of the narrow property with a streamlined, boat-like form with bold rooflines that gesture toward the harbour.
