Renovation and restructuring of a 19th century townhouse apartment into a modern pied-a-terre.
This pied-a-terre on the parlor floor of a 19th century townhouse has 13" ceilings, which allowed DCA to install a mezzanine for a bedroom and dressing area.
Exposed brick walls were painted with calming neutral tones, to offset splashes of color from wallpaper, backsplashes and accessories.
Period details like carved window surrounds and the original marble fireplace mantle were repaired and restored to create an interesting counterpoint to the sleek new Italian kitchen, and other modern elements.
