This townhouse in the Treadwell Farms Historic District of Manhattan's upper east side was originally designed by Richard Morris Hunt, as part of a continuous row of Neo-Grec houses. An uninteresting 1960's brick facade had been built in place of the original, which interrupted the continuity original row of houses. The 1960's façade was stripped away by DCA, and the original facade was recreated to restore the stylistic unity with its neighbors. The house was gutted and rebuilt to suit the needs of a growing young family. As part of the construction, a fifth floor was added to provide a library and guest suite for the family. Working with Interior Decorator Florence de Dampierre, DCA seamlessly created a sumptuous interior for the young family, including amenities like a wine cellar and sauna, and a new library with Nakashima paneling.
